Private Client Tax Advisor (CPA)
Role Summary:
We are seeking a strategic and client-focused Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to join our firm as a full-time, year-round resource supporting the firm’s full-service wealth management capabilities, including in-house tax preparation and coordination with external partners for our high-net-worth and family office clients. This role combines proactive tax planning, preparation of complex and high-value client returns, and active participation in Wealth Advisor-led client meetings.
The ideal candidate will be a collaborative partner to our Wealth Advisors, a trusted subject-matter expert for clients, and a driver of both client retention and new business opportunities.
This role will enhance the value we deliver to our high-net-worth and family office clients by providing year-round, coordinated tax guidance and serving as a dedicated partner to Wealth Advisors for complex tax planning and business development opportunities. Ultimately, the CPA will be instrumental in strengthening our ability to deliver a consistent, high-quality client experience across the firm.
Key Responsibilities
High-Net-Worth & Family Office Tax Services
- Partner with Wealth Advisors to provide proactive, year-round tax planning and guidance to high net-worth individuals, families, and family offices.
- Join Wealth Advisors in client meetings to review tax returns, model strategies, and provide expert insight even when the return is prepared externally.
- Manage the end-to-end tax return process for wealth management clients, preparing returns in-house and managing the process with outside CPAs to ensure timely, accurate, and tax-efficient outcomes.
- Prepare and review 100–200 complex individual, trust, and business tax returns annually, in addition to returns prepared by external resources.
- Advise on complex tax scenarios such as stock appreciation rights (SARs), executive compensation packages, and business sales.
Wealth Advisor Support & Business Development
- Serve as an accessible, on-demand tax resource to Wealth Advisors for tax-related questions, modeling, and planning discussions.
- Actively support new business opportunities by demonstrating the firm’s full-service capabilities in tax preparation, planning, and coordination with external tax partners.
- Develop planning tools, one-page fact sheets, and educational materials to support Wealth Advisors in client conversations and presentations.
Qualifications & Skills
- Active CPA license required.
- Experience in tax planning and preparation, with a focus on high-net-worth and complex client situations, required.
- Experience with executive compensation structures, business sale transactions, SAR modeling, and multi-entity tax issues.
Strong knowledge tax preparation software. - Ability to clearly and confidently explain complex tax concepts to clients and Wealth Advisors in both one-on-one and group settings.
- Proven track record of collaborating with advisors and clients to achieve integrated wealth planning outcomes.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.
