Jim Newman brings over 25 years of wealth and investment management experience to Gottfried & Somberg Wealth Management. He specializes in helping clients build a financial framework that brings together all aspects of their financial lives.
Before joining Gottfried & Somberg in 2018, Jim founded and led his own wealth management firm, Peak Point Capital Management, LLC. His earlier roles include serving as a wealth advisor with Sagemark Consulting, a portfolio manager with Spruce Hill Capital Management, and an equity analyst with hedge fund Frontline Capital Management, LLC. Jim’s passion for investing began at 18 years old, working as a “runner” on the floor of the American Stock Exchange.
He is a graduate of Fairfield University and holds both the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®) and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) designations—the highest standards of excellence in the wealth management profession. Dedicated to lifelong learning and giving back, Jim serves on three nonprofit boards and leads CFA Society Hartford’s financial literacy program, which helps underserved communities gain confidence in managing their finances.
Outside the office, Jim is an avid outdoorsman with a lifelong love of the Adirondacks. He is close to completing his goal of becoming an Adirondack 46er. Jim and his wife, Jen, live in Kensington with their four children.
